Hey gang! We took some time off from the blog to do some traveling, job change, moved houses, got goats, focus on our Youtube channels and WAIT did you say get GOATS! Yup, that’s what I said. A few years ago we took a backpacking trip into the Uinta mountains to find Alsop Lake. To help us along the way we rented some pack goats.
Since that time, we have dreamed of doing this on our own. Now that we have moved to our new place, with just enough land, we decided to jump into the goat packing world.
Meet Sven:
Sven is a Saanen, a Swiss breed of Domestic Goat. His personality leans towards being the lovable giant.
Meet Ole:
Ole is an Alpine, this breed originated in the French Alps. He tends to be more the class clown personality type.
Why name them Sven and Ole you ask? Well, my Uncle Frank would have got along great with Ole as he loved to clown around. At every family get together my Uncle Frank would tell these hilarious stories about the antics of Sven and Ole, two Swedes that try as they might just couldn’t get things straight. Later in life, I found out that Sven and Ole jokes were fairly popular among Norwegian (my heritage) and Swedish immigrants in America. It looks like if you are Norwegian, then Sven and Ole are Swedes. If you are from Sweden, then the boys are from Norway. Either way, they seem to fit our two goats.

(UPDATE!!!)
In the time I wrote the article and almost posted it, we got TWO more goats. The breeder (Dwite Sharp) that we got Sven and Ole from informed us that there were two yearlings in our area and that their owner was very sick and needed a new home for the boys. We jumped at the chance to get a couple boys one year closer to packing for us.
Meet Creed:
Creed is a lovable mix of Alpine, Saanen, Oberhasli, and Boer.
Meet Atlas:
Atlas is an Alpine just like Ole.
Stay tuned for more updates!
